Description
On spring and summer mornings, the owners of the apartment at Eastcote Place enjoy being able to open the French windows on to their Juliet balcony to let a cool breeze into their stylish home. The first-floor property, which is bright and airy throughout, has been carefully upgraded in the time they have been there to offer chic yet comfortable Ascot living. “As soon as we stepped inside, we realised it had the potential to be a perfect home for us,” one of the current owners recalls. “We loved the space it offered, as well as its open-plan style. The main living space was very large, and, with a window at either end, was exceptionally light.” She adds: “We also really liked the position of the block as a whole. It gave us the opportunity to live in Ascot, close to everything we needed.”
Exclusive Apartment
Built by Shanly Homes, and housing just 12 apartments, the exclusive gated development sits well within its surroundings. “We believe the block, which was built in 2005, stands on a site that was once a Post Office,” she says. “We came to see it four years ago when we were looking at a lot of properties and quickly realised how well designed the apartment was. It offered the same square footage as a house and yet we knew its layout would make it a very easy place for us to live in.”
EXQUISITE DÉCOR
The inviting accommodation at the two-bedroom apartment, which is decorated in an understated palette of grey, blue and neutral tones, is accessed via the reception hall. The family bathroom, with stylish décor and featuring a bath with shower above, is to the right. “We have recently had this bathroom refitted,” she explains. The master bedroom, which benefits from an en suite shower room and built-in cupboard, and second bedroom, with its wall of cupboard space, can be found on the left. “There is plenty of storage space here, which is great,” she admits. “There is even a hidden cupboard for towels in the bathroom.”
SUPERB SPACE
The capacious living area, which like the rest of apartment is lit by spotlights, is very much the heart of the property and has the flexibility to be arranged to suit the needs of the owners. “We did have our dining table, which can seat up to six people, down by the French windows so we could look out at the greenery and see the golf course in the background – then when there was a need to work from home, we moved the table closer to the kitchen and created a work area by the windows,” she says. “We also have the very large sofa and other large items of furniture in the room. It is very spacious.”
FAMILY LIFE
The kitchen area, which has been repainted in a subtle grey to blend in with the rest of the apartment, is well designed for food preparation and storage. It has a double oven and induction hub; the dishwasher, washing machine and fridge-freezer are integrated and hidden from view. The whole living area suits family life and entertaining, the owner suggests. “We have a one year-old and the apartment works very well for us as a family,” she says. “It has also been easy to welcome friends here in the past – there have been occasions with up to 10 of us here.”
OUT AND ABOUT
On sunny days, the family enjoy picnicking out on the grass within the gated development or heading out to one of the many parks and green open spaces in the area. Like many of those living in Ascot, they enjoy walking in the beautiful grounds of the racecourse; Windsor Great Park, the Savill Garden, Virginia Water Lake and Chobham Common are also popular locations for those who enjoy the great outdoors. “This is a great location because we are also so close to local shops and schools, as well as the high street. There are health and sports clubs within easy reach, and we are very near to Mill Ride Golf Club.” The family, who hope to stay in the area when they move, are sad to be leaving their Eastcote Place home. “It will be hard to leave because we have loved being here so much, but it is also nice to think the next owners will be able to enjoy it straight away because it is ready to move into,” she adds.
