It is lovely to sit outside with a glass of wine as the sun goes down.”


French windows opening on to the terrace from the main drawing and dining room at the apartment serve to provide an easy flow between the inside and outside space at their home. “As soon as we walked in, we found it to be so light and airy,” she recalls. “This is a very spacious apartment, which has such a nice feel, and is especially pleasant in the summer when we have both sets of French windows open.” One of just five apartments at the purpose-built block, which is only 10 years old and sits on the site of a former manor house, they also loved its semi-rural setting. “All the trees give it a wonderful feel and at the end of the garden there is a gate through to the woodland and the Old Mile of Ascot Racecourse beyond, which is a lovely place to walk.”


Carefully designed and beautifully presented, the apartment offers three beautiful bedrooms, two bathrooms and substantial living space. Entered via a reception hall, its living space is to the left and includes an expansive drawing and dining room, which is open-plan to the kitchen. Indeed, many happy Christmas dinners have been spent around the table at the apartment, while summer lunches have been taken on the terrace. “With three bedrooms, we also have plenty of space for everyone to stay,” she observes. To the right of the hall are the bedrooms and bathrooms. The family bathroom is Jack-and-Jill to the hall and a guest bedroom, while the master bedroom enjoys its own bathroom, featuring a large shower and a bath. Having three bedrooms also offers the flexibility of arranging one as a study and music room. Equally, new owners could choose to have a second sitting room or snug if they wished.


When not relaxing at home or unwinding on the terrace, as they watch the red kites that nest in the trees, the couple enjoy walking in the area. In addition to the old stretch of Ascot Racecourse, they also benefit from proximity to Windsor Great Park. A former royal hunting ground, this exquisite area also includes beauty spots such as The Savill Garden and Virginia Water. “Windsor Great Park is just 10 minutes down the road,” Karen observes. “It is a beautiful place to be able to walk or cycle.”


Yet, Eastcote House is also well placed for access to shops, restaurants, cafés and golf clubs. “From here we can walk to Ascot High Street in about 10 to 15 minutes,” she admits. “Sunninghill is also within easy reach; we can walk to the railway station in about 20 minutes to catch the train into London and we are in a good position for reaching major roads and motorways.” She adds: “I will miss everything about living here when we leave, from sitting in the garden, enjoying the peace and watching the birds, to heading off for a walk whenever
