THE STORY
From their attractive home in Chobham, they can walk through the nearby woodland whenever they choose. They can also stroll through to magnificent Chobham Common and are within easy reach of Windsor Great Park. "We have been told that this Cottage stands on land which was originally part of Windsor Forest and belonged to a woodman," Teresa says. "When we first saw it, we realised it was a lovely setting and that it would be a great place to live." The leafy location is peaceful and secluded, and home to an abundance of wildlife. "Our grandchildren love going out for long walks through the trees here, pretending they are on a bear hunt!" she adds. "We often see deer trotting past and there are so many birds to spot." MODERN INTERIOR This Cottage, which has been extended in the past, dates back in part to Victorian times. It sits in approximately one-third of an acre and has been upgraded and modernised with great care and attention. "We have renovated the whole house, rewired it and had a new roof put on. A new central heating system has been installed, the kitchen and bathrooms have been replaced and we have redecorated everywhere," she says. "High quality fixtures and fittings have been used throughout the entire house and it now has a bright, modern interior." BRIGHT AND OPEN The attractive property is entered via a large reception hall, with much of the bedroom and bathroom and accommodation to one side and the living space to the other. Three bedrooms and the family bathroom are at ground floor level, with the master bedroom enjoying access to an en suite shower room. To the right of the hall is the substantial drawing and dining room, which is double aspect and has two sets of French windows on to the garden. "When we bought the house there were lots of small rooms and passages - we have opened all this up and brought the living space to the back of the house to enable us to enjoy the beautiful aspect out over the garden." CLEVER DESIGN The modern kitchen breakfast room is open to the drawing and dining room, and also has French windows on to the garden. It has been well designed to offer good space for preparing and serving meals, as well as for casual dining and entertaining. "I love the way this part of the house flows," Teresa admits. "It makes it very easy to accommodate lots of people and for everyone to move around. It is a good family home, which would suit people with children, and it is great for entertaining. We have had parties here with up to 30 people and the space has always worked very well." FLEXIBLE SPACE An additional bedroom, a study area and a useful storage room are all located on the first floor. "I use the study as a space for making jewellery but it could also be perfect for someone working from home. Our grandchildren enjoy being upstairs when they come to stay with us." Another superb addition to the house is the double garage and workshop space. This could also have a host of alternative uses. The beautiful home is now ready for someone else to move into but there is still scope for new owners to put their stamp on it should they require it. "Someone else could add a conservatory perhaps or even enlarge the workshop should they choose to," Teresa observes.
SETTING THE SCENE
This Cottage sits in attractive, mature grounds of approximately one-third of an acre. These have been landscaped by the current owners to include large gardens, a substantial terrace and parking for several cars. Within the grounds there is a detached, double garage workshop.
WITHIN EASY REACH
The mature grounds have been landscaped and now include a large terrace for outside relaxation and entertaining. The couple enjoy spending as much time as possible in their south-facing gardens. "This is such a peaceful and private place," Teresa says. "There are only about 30 houses on Brick Hill and they all nestle within their own spots." At the same time, the location offers easy access to the M3, M25 and stations with trains running into London. "There are nice pubs and restaurants in the area and we can reach good places to shop," she adds. "This has been a lovely place to live - and more than anything we will miss the beautiful setting when we leave."
