The Story

Seeking a new home in desirable Ascot, the current owners of Ailsa House came across the property on The Avenue and realised they had found their next home. The impressive, three-storey house was tucked away in a quiet yet convenient location and offered everything they were looking for. “We love new houses and when we realised we needed something bigger decided to drive around the area to see what was available,” one of them recalls. “We liked Ascot, Sunninghill and Chobham and so were very pleased when we saw the sign for this property.” Built by Gilbert Homes, who are known for their elegant, high specification properties, Ailsa House had recently been completed. “As soon as we saw it, we loved everything about it,” she admits. “It was traditional in style but offered everything required for modern living. It was a lovely house, which was perfect for us.”

EXQUISITE INTERIOR
Set back from The Avenue, with a spacious, gated driveway, the attractive house has a splendid portico entrance, which opens into a bright, airy reception hall. This leads into all the main living accommodation and like the rest of the house is decorated in calm, neutral shades. “The rooms are a good size and the layout works well – this house could be ideal for a family or owners who enjoy entertaining.” To the left of the hall, double doors open into a bay-fronted room which could be ideal as a dining room, study or snug. Also coming off the hall is access into the integral garage, a useful storage cupboard and the downstairs cloakroom. “We have enjoyed having the dedicated dining room for family meals,” she observes.

The arrangement of the accommodation on the upper floors is also ideal for family living and welcoming friends and family to stay. Four bedrooms are situated on the first floor. One of these is the master bedroom, which enjoys a private dressing room and en suite bathroom, while one guest room has an en suite shower room. The other two bedrooms share the family bathroom. One of these could be ideal as a study or home office if required. “Then there are two more bedrooms and a shower room on the top floor,” the owner explains. “This could be ideal for an au pair, adult child or family member who wished to have some private space. One of these rooms could be used as a bedroom and the other as a sitting room.”

BEAUTIFUL GARDEN
The garden was little more than a blank canvas when the owners arrived. Since then, they have invested heavily in landscaping it. A granite terrace was laid, together with granite paths and other features. “We also had lighting installed and added a summer house and greenhouse. It is now a very pleasant place for sitting out in the sunshine on warm days.” The beauty of life in Ascot is that it also offers good access to beautiful areas of countryside, as well as parks and open spaces, such as Windsor Great Park. This beautiful expanse also takes in The Savill Garden, Virginia Water, The Valley Gardens and the Long Walk and Deer Park.

GOOD CONNECTIONS
Ailsa House also enjoys all the benefits of Ascot’s exceptional convenience, however. It is well-placed for commuting into London via road or rail, as well as for reaching airports and other parts of the country. “
