5 Bedroom detached house Brickhill Manor Court, Milton Keynes £785,000

The spacious 5 bedroom house with 5 reception rooms on Brickhill Manor Court has been carefully extended and beautifully renovated throughout to offer bright, inviting and spacious family living.

It was the quiet setting of the house on Brickhill Manor Court that first appealed to the current owner of the detached property. He loved the Little Brickhill village location and was particularly drawn to the peaceful cul-de-sac. “It was so green and leafy – there are lots of trees in the area,” he recalls. “The surroundings were very pleasant on the eye and the house itself offered generous space yet still held scope for further extension.” Situated on the edge of Milton Keynes, Little Brickhill has a long history dating back to Roman times. It once stood on a major route to London and grew as a staging post. Today it still features a number of charming buildings of architectural merit. “This house stands on land which is thought to have once been owned by the local manor house,” he adds.

Part of an exclusive enclave of substantial houses, the five-bedroom property is set back from the road by a brick-paved driveway with space for several vehicles to park. Work to the house has seen the conversion of part of the former garage into a splendid drawing room. “This is now a lovely light space, which has bi-folding doors opening on to the garden,” he explains. “It is a wonderful family space.” Above the drawing room, he created a sumptuous new bedroom, complete with its own en suite bathroom and dressing room. “This is a fantastic room, which is very light, with two windows to the front of the house. It also has a double-height ceiling, which enhances the airy feeling.”
The rest of the accommodation at the property has been remodelled and refurbished to offer well-proportioned, contemporary living space. From the entrance hall there is access to the inviting kitchen, dining and family room, which has been stylishly fitted out to offer space for comfortable seating and dining furniture, as well as food storage and preparation. “This is a great area, where people can be watching television – or the children can be doing their homework at the table – while someone else is cooking dinner,” he explains. “Everyone can be in their own part of the room, yet we are all together.”
The flexible accommodation at the house also includes a dining room, sitting room and study: these could equally be arranged as a children playrooms, teenagers’ dens or additional snugs if required. “Having so much space gives you lots of flexibility,” he agrees. “There’s enough room for people to find a quiet space but there is also plenty of space for entertaining large numbers of guests if that is what you enjoy.” There is a cloakroom at ground floor level and stairs rise up from the hall to a first floor landing, leading to all the bedroom and bathroom accommodation. There are five bedrooms in total, including the master suite. A guest bedroom has its own en suite shower room, while three further bedrooms share the family bathroom. “Once again, the accommodation up here is perfect for family living,” he adds.
With such an easy flow on to the terrace and lawn, the owners have enjoyed the outdoor living offered by the house at Brickhill Manor Court. It has been pleasant to pull back the bi-folding doors and sit out in the sunshine for a barbecue. When the weather is good, it has also been fun to explore the surrounding area. “We go to nearby woods for walks and the local park is great for children,” he says. “You can also go running and mountain-biking in the area or play golf at Woburn.” Woburn Abbey and Gardens are close by and perfect for an afternoon out.
Little Brickhill is also well situated for reaching transport links, good schools, restaurants and shops, says the current owner. “It is very quick to get to the A5 from here and we have easy access to Milton Keynes, with its supermarkets, high street shops and railway station – you can get into London by train and we are within reach of the M1 motorway.” He adds: “This is a very convenient place to live and yet it is so quiet: it is close to everything you need but is peaceful and green.”
