6 Bedroom detached house Green Lane, Burnham £2,500,000

A Detached Six Bedroom Five Bathroom family house boasting a One bedroom Annex set in just under 1.5 Acres.

The attractive house on Green Lane sits in almost 1.5 acres of land. It has a gated entrance, large drive and immaculate garden to the front; there is also access to a double garage. To the rear, there are more magnificent lawned gardens, bordered by stretches of woodland.

The Story
Sitting comfortably within its beautiful, wooded plot, the house on Green Lane at Burnham has been a magnificent home to its current owners over the past 19 years. The splendid detached house has been extended and upgraded to offer flexible accommodation to suit the large family and their various needs. “We have seven children and were living close by when this place came on the market,” one of the owners recalls. “As soon as we saw it from the outside, we loved it from the immediately. As a builder, I knew we could do whatever we needed to the accommodation to make it into a wonderful home, but the setting, with the large gardens, was exactly what we were looking for.”
A FLEXIBLE HOME
Since then, he has transformed the substantial property into a unique and multi-functional home. “There are lots of different parts to the property and it has worked very well for us over the years,” he explains. “The children have been able to live in their own sections of the house, with their partners, at different points in time, and there has been room here for me to work from home in the office and for one of my daughters to run her beautician business from her own space as well.”
GORGEOUS KITCHEN
The impressive main house is accessed via a set of steps leading up to a glass-fronted veranda. Double front doors open into a broad reception hall, with an oak and glass staircase, leading into a capacious drawing room to one side; this has a bay window to the front and two sets of French windows opening on to the garden to the rear. This long and light room, is the perfect place to entertain friends and to relax in the evening. To the left of the hall, more double doors give on to the kitchen, breakfast and family room, which in turns flows into a television or games room. The kitchen features a substantial central island, with white units, fitted appliances and black marble work surfaces. There is ample space for a dining table.
INDOOR-OUTDOOR LIVING
Five more sets of doors open on to the garden from the back of this stunning, contemporary space. “We have had some great times with our family and extended family in this part of the house,” he remembers. “There have been lots of great parties here over the years.” Also on the ground floor, are a cloakroom, utility room and side lobby. The annexe has its own entrance and features a large drawing and dining room, complete with bi-folding doors on to the garden, plus a kitchen, bedroom and en suite wet room. “The annexe is ideal for any family members who want to live here with us, but at the same time enjoy their independence.”
SPRING AND SUMMER
Four of the very large bedrooms at the Green Lane house are situated on the first floor of the substantial house. One of these is the spectacular master suite, with its large bedroom and enormous en suite bathroom, with closet. Two sets of double doors open on to a glass balcony, with views out over the garden. “It is lovely to have these doors open whenever the weather is warm,” the owner says. “It is particularly beautiful in the springtime when the row of cherry trees outside is in blossom.” One more bedroom on this floor has an en suite shower room. Two additional bedrooms share the family bathroom. Two more very large bedrooms, each with an en suite bathroom can be found on the floor above. “Again, this part of the house can feel very separate from everywhere else.”
WORK, REST AND PLAY
Above the detached double garage is a home office, where the owner has enjoyed being able to work away from the hustle and bustle of the main house. There is also a separate cabin-style building, which has been home to his daughter’s business but which, again, could have a variety of leisure or work uses. “This home has been perfect for us for all this time – and we will be very sad to leave,” he admits. “It is also in an excellent location, with Burnham Station, with its trains into London, within walking distance and the M40 and M4 just five to 10 minutes’ drive. We have very good schools close by; Maidenhead and Windsor are near, and, of course, beautiful Burnham Beeches, a National Nature Reserve and Special Area of Conservation, is on our doorstep.”
