4 Bedroom detached house Clifton Moor, Oakhill £550,000

The four-bedroom, detached house on Clifton Moor, in Oakhill, has been a magical family home for more than two decades now

The very day after their son was born, the owners of the house on Clifton Moor moved into their brand new home. They chose the newly built, detached, Oakhill property for its location within reach of good schools, shops, supermarkets and beautiful green areas to walk or cycle in. “The house had already been completed when we first viewed it,” one of them remembers. “It seemed to be of a very good quality and offered all the space we were looking for. We liked the fact there was so much greenery around it and that we would be within easy reach of Shenley Wood. We thought it would be the perfect place for us to raise a family.”

A PEACEFUL PLACE
That was back in 2005 – and the owners are just as happy with their home today as they were back then. “We have enjoyed living here so much and are only moving on now because we are relocating,” she explains. “The house has been an easy, comfortable place to spend time and the location has been as peaceful and private as we hoped it would be. We are lucky enough to have wonderful neighbours and, when we sit out in the garden, it is so quiet – very often all we can hear is the sound of the birds singing.”
SPACIOUS LIVING
Since moving in, they have made very few changes to the property, which is decorated internally in neutral shades. “We had a wall removed to create an open-plan sitting room, dining room and kitchen,” she says. “This has been fantastic. It has made the house much more suitable for modern family living, as well as for entertaining.” There is now ample space for cooking, dining and relaxing together. The current owners have arranged the sizeable sitting room space, with a bay window at one end and French windows at the other, to create two separate seating areas. This now flows smoothly into the dining room and kitchen. The kitchen itself, which has light units and integrated appliances, is well-equipped for both food preparation and storage. “I love this part of the house,” she admits. “We have so many happy memories of the times we have spent together here – it is like paradise for us.”
CLOSE TO NATURE
Two sets of French windows open onto the garden from the rear of the house. In the summer months, family members can wander in and out with ease. “It allows us to feel really close to nature,” she observes. “It is so leafy and green outside that we love keeping the doors open whenever the weather is warm enough.” This also allows the garden to feel something of an extension to the house, especially when friends or relatives gather here for barbecues or summer parties. “This is a great place to live if you enjoy entertaining because there is so much space,” she adds.
LIGHT BEDROOMS
The entrance hall is at the centre of the front of the house, where it also gives access to the downstairs cloakroom and stairs. All four bedrooms and the family bathroom are on the first floor. The master bedroom has an en suite shower room and a built-in wardrobe. “This is my favourite bedroom, but all the upstairs rooms are light and appealing. We use the smallest bedroom as a walk-in dressing room, but someone else may wish to set it up as a study or turn it back into a bedroom.”
SUMMER DAYS
The garden at the Clifton Moor house is a good size and could suit someone seeking to install a garden studio. “There would be plenty of room if new owners wanted to have an office or gym out there, for example.” Many fond memories have been made out in the garden, with children playing and adults basking in the sunshine. The family has also enjoyed country walks and spending time at Milton Keynes’s lakes on fine days. “We are also lucky enough to have some very nice pubs close by,” she says. Now sad to be moving on, she agrees the next owners are likely to enjoy the house just as much as she and her family have. “We have had so many happy times here – everything has been perfect and I know the next lucky people who move in after us will love it just as much as we have.”
SETTING THE SCENE
To the front of the house, there is access to the single garage and a driveway with space for two cars to park. According to the owner, there is room to extend this if required. To the rear, the family garden features a lawn, with ample space for children to play, plus a terrace for outside dining and entertaining.
