4 Bedroom detached house Langney Green, Milton Keynes £750,000

Set within an oasis of greenery, the house at Langney Green offered the family the quiet life they were seeking, yet within easy reach of schools, shops and the train station

It was the beautiful outlook and tranquillity of the Tattenhoe house that first struck the current owners of the Langney Green property when they first went to view it. Moving out to Buckinghamshire from London, they were seeking a quieter setting and a slower pace of life. “Not only was the area itself very peaceful, but the house also looked out over a large green,” one of them recalls. “Having come from London, it seemed such a tranquil place to us. At the same time, we realised we would be able to commute to work in just 35 minutes by train and that the property was well positioned for primary schools, grammar schools and shops. It was also in a lovely location for following footpaths through all the parks and woodland around us. It was everything we were looking for. ”

GENEROUS LIVING
The generous, four-bedroom house was also perfect for the family’s lifestyle. “I really liked the layout,” she recalls. “It had an open-plan kitchen dining room, which led through to a large conservatory. The garden itself was also a good size and it came with a barbecue hut, which we knew would be fantastic for parties and family gatherings. We can use it all year round – even in the wintertime.” She adds: “I also like to go out there sometimes just to sit quietly or meditate. It is a lovely place to retreat to with a cup of tea.”
FRIENDS AND FAMILY
It has been five years now since the family moved in and the owner says it has suited their lifestyle perfectly. There has been ample space to congregate with friends and family, as well as to have quiet, private spaces, including rooms in which to work. Set back from the road via a large driveway leading to a double garage, the Tudor-style, detached house features a capacious, central reception hall. This fans off into all the main living accommodation. “The study is to the front of the house,” she explains. “It is quite separate from all the other reception rooms, which makes it a great place for working from home.” The study could, of course, equally become a great playroom or teenagers’ den, depending on the requirements of the new owners.
ALL SEASONS
Double doors to the left of the hall open into the long sitting room. This spacious, double-aspect room has doors to the garden that can be pulled open on warm, summer days. “This is a very nice room all year round,” she admits. “In summer, it is lovely to be able to wander outside or to look out over the terrace towards the leafy vines climbing up the trellis. In the winter, it is very cosy and comfortable. It is also a great space for entertaining because of its size.”
GARDEN VIEWS
From the hall, there is also access to the ground-floor cloakroom and then the kitchen dining room. This flows into the huge conservatory to one side and the useful utility room to the other. “This part of the house has also worked very well for us over the years,’ the owner observes. “If we have friends or family here, then everyone can be in the same place, chatting and engaging with each other, even if some of us are preparing food.” She continues: “The conservatory has been another wonderful feature of the house, especially during the warmer months, when we like to sit in there and look out over the garden.”
PERFECT HOME
The whole house has a bright, airy feel, she explains. The abundance of natural light is complemented by the neutral colour scheme, working to create a sense of space, calm and easy living. All four bedrooms are on the first floor of the house. The two smaller bedrooms look out over the verdant green, while the larger rooms enjoy garden views. Three of the bedrooms have built-in storage. “The master bedroom is especially large and has superb, fitted wardrobes, as well as an en-suite shower room. It is lovely looking out over the garden from here.” Now downsizing as their daughter is heading off to university, the owners agree they will miss everything about their Tattenhoe home. “I am looking for somewhere close by, but I think it will be hard to find anywhere as perfect as this,” she admits. “It really does have everything you could wish for!”
SETTING THE SCENE
The property on Langney Green provides ample off-road parking. The good-sized driveway has space for up to three cars and there is also a double garage. To the rear, the enclosed garden has a lawn for children to play on, a terrace for outside dining, and the barbecue hut. “There is nothing more peaceful than sitting out on the swing seat in the summer,” the owner says.
